Jury Duty X & Money-grubber Stuff

I'm tired of everyone asking for money!
Jury Duty X & Stuff
No jurors are needed for duty Wednesday. To say December is the best month for jury duty is an understatement.
Here is a sad story about a university needing money so badly that they are willing to anger alumni to the point of saying, “take me off the money grubber list,” and think their university is in big financial trouble.
This is about The Johns Hopkins University. Yes, I got my Masters Degree there and my Dad told me always use “THE” in the title because that is the official name. I bet the money grubbers there now don’t know that!
Back on non-profit, beg for money day in November, I didn’t get one email from Michele Ewing at The JHU but many – like every hour. I asked her to stop but that didn’t make any difference. Just send a check. So her boss was brought into the picture- Paula Aaronson. Good old Paula promised me that my name and email were “pulled” from the money grubber list and it would never happen again. She said it would happen in one or two weeks. It has been over three weeks and it is fairly obvious she can’t count. What she failed to say was it would take forever and for some unknown reason she had to go through a “pipeline.” People with real power can make a call or write an email and it is done.
I sent the entire package of emails to the President. Never heard a word from him. I guess he doesn’t read or write. You have to remember also that my mother (and family) endowed two chairs at The JHU in the name of my father. Nice. After I had this ugly experience, I asked my mother and brother not to give more money to The JHU until this was sorted out.
Guess what happened today? Michele Ewing sends another email begging for money. Like does her job depend on how much money she extorts from people? I immediately contacted her boss with a cc to the President – I will never hear from him! He doesn’t care; just give him the MONEY!
People do not like to be harassed at the holidays for money. I paid for my Masters and they got money out of the family. What have they done for me? Don’t get me started on the quality of education I got at The JHU because it was sad. There is a Federal Law about email solicitation and if you ask for your name to be taken off a list they have to comply, immediately. Not when they have nothing else to do.
Just think, when you are dead and buried, your college will keep sending you emails begging for money. How desperate is that! Of course that depends on if they haven’t filed for bankruptcy!
P.S. I don’t get that kind of treatment from Towson State University where I got my undergraduate degree.
