Update on UNM Press

The saga continues … UNM will move all the inventory of UNM Press to Tennessee!!!?

We thought we were so over this for a while, but those evil, crafty people at UNM have been quietly working to send the UNM Press books to Tennessee for the University of North Carolina. There is some talk at UNC got away with not doing the RFP process because, like other universities and colleges are non-profit. I couldn’t find an RFP online with UNM. So Baltimore, Chicago, and Colorado are out and Tennessee is in.

Some say the UNM Press books start getting shipped the end of October and some say spring. It doesn’t really matter – New Mexico books are going to Tennessee. Why Tennessee? Because that is the site of a big book distributor. It is also out of New Mexico so little attention can be put on them with the other books from Cornell, Virginia, and many others. Sad!

The bottomline is Dean of Libraries at UNM, Dr. Clement, wants that UNM Press warehouse. He will get it and spend millions of tax-payer dollars that UNM doesn’t have to refurbish it. Whatever. This is evidence that a second rate university is much lower. Gotta put that money into TERRIBLE sports teams! Why do you go to college – sports or academics?

I really hope EVERYONE sees the Larry Barker KRQE report on more tax-payer money “blatantly” spent wrongly by UNM. It seems accounting for money escapes them. See the report on Tuesday, 9/26/17 at 10pm on TV 13. For those of you outside the signal, it will be on the KQRE website starting, probably, Wednesday. Larry started it all with the Scotland golf trip on the tax-payer dime.

NOTE: I have put in an Inspection of Public Records request for everything about UNM Press and UNC and Tennessee. I will let you know when I get it!
