Gov't Shutdown Hurts Everyone!

Our "Paid" Officials in Washington Have Not Thought Things Out Clearly…The Wall Is Not Gonna Fix Anything!

We all know about the people not getting paychecks, back pay, or furloughed. They are government employees so who cares? You might when you stop and think how the shutdown may apply to you.


  1. Government contractors are not getting checks. So much for paying their employees.
  2. Expecting a refund from the IRS after you file? It may be really delayed. Don’t count on that money for a long time! But you better not get your tax return in late!!!!! Things with the IRS don’t work both ways.
  3. For book publishers, we have to send in the book before it is published to the Library of Congress for cataloguing information. It may not be coming for a long time. Even after the shutdown is over things will be so backed up that it won’t be coming for many months.
  4. New drugs won’t get approved.
  5. The National Transportation Safety Board will not be able to investigate accidents because they are closed.
  6. Local beers won’t be able to get approved on a whole slew of things and even shipping out-of-state may be an issue.
  7. Agriculture Department farm loans may be stopped.
  8. Funding for Violence Against Women grants from the Commerce Department may be canceled (why is this from the Commerce Department and not the Justice Department?).
  9. Small Business Loans may be stopped even though they have been in the approval pipeline.
  10. Fair Housing inspections may be postponed.
  11. According to the military look for these issues:
  12. Medical and dental care that is non-emergency, on base, may be canceled.
  13. Families moving to a different base may have their moved suspended.
  14. Commissaries in the US might be closed.

And we are not even talking about all of the stores with breakfast and lunch spots near governmental buildings. The stores near national parks will be impacted because no tourists want to visit a closed, trashy park. No fishing or hunting guides or boat rentals. Hotels near parks will have lower than usual check-ins.

The overall economy of the country may be compromised and is this the way a government is supposed to act? Have a temper tantrum and close the government. Our leadership is truly amateur hour. And now Trump is talking about the government being in shutdown for over a year? How about the children who made this happen not getting their paychecks? That might influence them to act!
