Let Me Know You Got It!
One of my most hated habits that other people have, is not responding to emails that they got. Not sending a long involved response – just they got it. Like sending their initials, thanks, or in my case - I do cool.
There is a very good and basic reason for it – especially since the big CenturyLink/Verison meltdown a few weeks ago, there are black holes that don’t deliver emails. It happens. Sending emails is not foolproof. If I take the time to write and email, it must be important on some level and I need to know that the other person got it.
So, I am taking a big chunk of today, resending emails to make sure people got them. They are about events, business decisions, and general touching base that something is going to happen and be ready. It is rude not to respond or hiding. Each has its own problems but it has to be addressed. No one wants me to call or just show up at a business to find out if you got my email. The effort of me going or doing a call will make me angry to start then it all goes downhill.
Can I suggest, when you get any email EXCEPT JUNK EMAILS, just send an initial of your name – “b” or “a”. If you are so inclined do a thanks.
If someone said something to you - face to face and you didn’t respond it would be rude. Don’t be that person.
