Reflection on a lot of stuff

We are tolerating more and more bad customer service….. why?
We are very AC/DC. On one hand we have gotten very anti-social relying on our phones but when there is need like Las Vegas, the hurricanes, or whatever, we band together. Maybe it is easier that way. No human contact except when needed. And still, we can pledge money online and never deal with a person. Thank goodness there are still people who boated in flood waters to rescue, or doctors and nurses who are sharp, or aid workers.
Our government agencies and retail stores have gotten very anti-customer. This might be another problem. They really don’t want to hear or deal with us. It is their jobs but they would rather we go away. Frankly, our taxes pay for government services and salaries but they don’t see without our support they wouldn’t be in business. They just want to be left to do their thing without the people they are formed to help.
Some retail stores have figured out that when customers don’t buy from them, they go out of business. Macy’s was a true powerhouse – a must go to destination for holiday buying. Now, not so much. Malls also were a fact of life for the holidays. I remember malls on the weekends in December being wall-to-wall people. Again, not so much. Some malls have died and shuttered up completely.
We have lost the urge to connect with other people. To serve, to sell, to find out what they want is not very important. It used to be. Maybe that disconnect is now taking a toll. It is much easier to buy online and have someone steal it from your front porch. Maybe some of the old ways were better?
