Upheaval on the horizon … who is a citizen and who isn't?
Change the 14th Amendment, Really?
President Trump has said he will eliminate the 14th Amendment to the Constitution with a Presidential decree. The 14th Amendment says that anyone born in the United States is a US citizen. It makes no distinction regarding babies of undocumented immigrant parents. Trump said we are the only country in the world doing this but he missed the other 29 countries also making babies citizens. The closest country is Canada.
There is a larger issue besides the 14th Amendment. What if Trump decides he doesn’t like any of the other amendments and thinks he can write them off too with a signature? The Constitution is there for a reason and something that we all have a voice in – not just one egocentric person. This is a warning to everyone that we may have a dictator raising his orange head.
Whatever happens it will be in court for a long time.
