It coulda all come crashing down at Balloon Fiesta . . .
DRONES AT BALLOON FIESTA
AIBF (Balloon Fiesta) announced that 272 drones were detected at Fiesta. Are those the stupidest people on earth? An Arizona company was hired by AIBF to find them using their digital signature. Those of us in ballooning knew it was coming and frankly, I am surprised it took a few years.
Picture a drone crashing into a nylon envelope of a balloon. Or a pilot distracted by a drone when he or she is trying to negotiate powerlines. Or a drone crashing into a basket and starting a fire. Or picture a swarm of drones buzzing a balloon like large bees.
The drone owners were warned, the areas that were no-fly were clearly publicized, and common sense said not to do it. I hope AIBF throws the book at those 272 morons.
