School Library Month
April is School Library Month. I remember all of my school libraries. There was always time to go pick up a book. It is a quiet place to read or work.
Maybe there is one librarian and he or she is lucky to have an aide or volunteer. They work hard: order books, shelve books, meet with groups of students on a project, meet with whole classes, make displays, and the dreaded lunch –playground or bus duty – because they aren’t busy!
Schools need libraries, that are accessible all the time, to students and teachers. Librarians are to be respected just like other teachers.
