Children’s Book Week and…………
May 03, 2017 14:41 Book stuff | Book signings
Sometimes we forget how important reading and books are. It has been proven that the more one reads at a young age the more likely one is to succeed in later life.
May celebrates a number of really cool book oriented subjects.
First is Children’s Book Week during the first full week of May. Next is Reading Is Fun Week in the second week of May. World Press Freedom Day is May 3. National Limerick Day is May 12. National Biographers Day is May 16. World Telecommunications and Information Society Day is May 17.
Books are important and so is reading. In the old days I remember that I had to read. Now I wish I had more time to read. And that may be the problem. We don’t have enough time to read. But we need to make time to read. We need to make time to talk to people. We have lost time for some of the basics. But we have that phone! PUT IT AWAY for a while!
Enjoy a book and if you have a choice, make it a local book. Buy a local children’s book for someone you love. See Ross Van Dusen and Slim Randles at the International Anderson-Abruzzo Balloon Museum on Sunday, May 7, 10am – 6pm at New Mexpo 2017. They can talk about books and stories. Bring a kid and have some fun!
